ALEXA HUEY

As a dance educator my goal is always to put my students first. It is important that they know that I believe in their personal growth and journey and will be there for them every step of the way. My dance teachers growing up inspired me in more ways than I can describe. Having the opportunity to mentor and develop the next generation of dancers is the most fulfilling part of my job.

“My passion and purpose is to lead dancers to their own personal success.”

Instructor Biography

Alexa Huey is a San Diego native and has been trained in various styles of dance from the age of five years old. Alexa’s passion for dance blossomed when she was a student at Danceology. She competed as a member of Danceology’s Performance Company under the direction of Nicole Lucia, where she won numerous scholarships from various competitions and conventions. In 2011 Alexa was nominated by her teachers and voted by her peers as Danceology’s “Dancer of the Year.” In addition to competing with Danceology, Alexa was a member of Mt. Carmel High School’s Dance Troupe (MCDT), where she was a four year member and named Captain during her senior year. After high school, Alexa set her sights on a career in dance and continued her education and training at the University of Arizona on a four year scholarship. The University of Arizona is home to one of the top dance programs in the nation; there, she graduated Cum Laude with a B.F.A in Dance and a Minor in Business Administration in 2015. After graduation, Alexa started her professional dance career as a dancer with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, where she traveled to seven countries around Asia aboard the Mariner of the Seas. Alexa had the opportunity to train closely under Dana Foglia in Los Angeles in Dana’s professional training program. Alexa was mentored by Dana and had the opportunity to perform repertoire from her company. Alexa’s dance journey eventually came full circle when she found her true passion as a dance teacher and choreographer. She is so happy to be back “home” at Danceology. In addition to all of her commitments as a teacher and administrator at the studio, she works as the varsity assistant dance coach at Cathedral Catholic High School. Alexa feels blessed to have a job she loves and as a former Danceology student finds so much joy in creating relationships and cultivating a passion for dance in her students.
